Mary Jo Peckham Park
They say the greatest things in life are free… and that definitely holds true at Mary Jo Peckham Park, which is conveniently located near the intersection of Avenue D and Franz Road in Old Katy. The Mary Jo Peckham Park for All Children first opened its doors in 1991. The park is intended to provide entertainment for children, families, seniors, and persons with disabilities. The park, which includes a stocked fishing pond surrounded by a jogging trail, a very large playground area, numerous picnic areas and a covered pavilion, a putt-putt golf course, and a fully-staffed gym and indoor pool facility, is a mecca for Katy residents who live active lifestyles and enjoy the outdoors. Mary Jo Peckham Park is a lovely 32-acre park in Katy, Texas. A jogging track, pond, playground, mini golf, covered BBQ pavilion (call ahead to secure a seat), picnic tables, outdoor bathrooms, tennis and basketball courts, and softball and baseball fields are all available in the park. The community center has a pool, locker rooms, and a gym with all of the necessary workout equipment, such as cardio machines, weight machines, free weights, and exercise mats. Yoga, Karate, Fitness Machines, Qigong, Cardio Muscular Training, and Blood Pressure Screening are some of the activities available. Free swims, water exercise, American Red Cross lessons, and Arthritis Swim Lessons are all available at the indoor pool. Babysitting Basics, Adult CPR, Infant and Child CPR, and First Aid Basics are among the classes available. The Park’s all-ages playground is an obvious magnet for families. Bring a lunch to enjoy in the picnic area next to the playground to transform your visit into a pleasant day. There is also a covered Barbeque Pavilion where a large family barbecue may be held. You may also take your children to the park’s community center, which has an indoor pool. The Mary Jo Peckham Lake is a great place to go fishing. The lake is stocked with a variety of waterfowl, and there is a covered dock where you may tent while you wait for your big catch! The park has two 18-hole miniature golf courses that are free to the public. Both of these courses are entirely accessible to wheelchair users. The Park is ideal for joggers because it has an asphalt running route. There is a granite walking track around the lake for hikers. The gym, like the rest of the park, is free to enter, but you must first display a membership card and sign at the front desk before exercising. The gym may be free and open to the public, but that does not imply that it is unclean. The staff follows stringent hygienic criteria and maintains the facility on a regular basis, while regulars follow the “culture of clean” regulations.
